The first day of racing was extremely difficult and disappointing. I was the last finisher in 38th place. I was pretty bummed, but 7 riders pulled out of the race so I found some solace in finishing. The course was very technical and I was a little out of my league. After the race when I was talking to my teammates they asked what pressure I was running. When I told them I was running 40psi and bouncing all over the place they kind of chuckled and showed me what I should have been at…
When I showed up on Sunday with 30psi in my tires and had the amazing ability to corner without washing out and crashing (like on Saturday) it was like night and day. I didn’t reach my goal of beating 10 racers who finished the race, but I did beat 9, so I was pretty thrilled about that. I am once again stoked about being a bike racer again!
…
Watching the top riders in the US like Page, Johnson, Wells, Selander and others is a lot of fun. It is quite amazing how fast they are. Hell, ask (dis) about his experience! The race had world class riders and good fields throughout the day. Yet, the worst part about the whole thing is that the crowds were a little bit smaller than what we see in races in the Metro Area. Just think if the top racers came here…

I made it to Madison.
(dis) is a boring car passenger.
All he wanted to talk about was 80s Hair Metal.
The hotel motel room is amazing with mirrors on all sides.
This is way better than Duluth.

The flyer for the Wirth Cyclocross Classic was put up on the internet the other day.
Do you notice anything?
I notice that one of the largest races (the old Boom Island) only has three fields. That means that the elite women will be racing with a rather large Cat3/45+ Field. I think this is a real shame. I believe that our cyclocross community needs to take a step forward and begin to think bigger and better. This means 4 race events.
…
I am not promoting the race, but I am proud to say that my club’s race The Behind-Bars VeloCX Race will feature four races and the opportunity for the Elite Women to have a small field and the opportunity to start first before the 45+ Men.
What other events have decided to join the wave of the future and have 4 races?
October 26 Green Acres CX
November 1 Red Barn CX Classic (one of the best races around)

If we need 700Billion so bad…
Why don’t we just print more money.
That is what they do in Zimbabwe and we all know how well that works.
…
I bet 700Billion Zimbabwe Dollars that the Cyber Cop is the first to comment.

I realized I never posted this picture from Nature Valley Gran Prix:

That is me with David Clinger. You may notice that Clinger is wearing a LAS helmet and a pair of Rudy Projects that match perfectly with his Rock and Republic bib shorts. I am rocking a TIME Sport ball cap and a DeMarchi all weather jacket. The fashionable bag was mad by Recycling Is Rad and it accentuates the need for responsible consumption.
That is pretty much all there needs to be discussed in this picture.
Thanks to Total Coverage Worley for the photograph.

The Thunder kicked major butt on Sarah’s birthday as they dispatched of the Montreal Impact 3-1. Big shouts to all that came out to celebrate the big day with us. The game was super exciting, but Sarah takes the cake for being a bit tipsy throughout the event. Whooooo Hooooo!
Thunder start the playoffs as the #7 seed, but I can’t imagine a single team in the league that wants to play the Thunder right now. They are the hottest team in the league and a shored up defense has made the squad nearly inpenetrable for opposition offenses.
Bring on the Whitecaps!

I have a bad head cold.
I am miserable.
I hope no one has gotten it from me.
…
The Pork Chop Challenge was today. I probably shouldn’t have went with the miserable cold, but I couldn’t resist the awesome event that they hold up in St. Cloud. Just like the past few years the course was modified a bid, in fact, it was made a little bit longer. All in all my result was very similar to last years (near the back in the cat3 field).
I had a ton of fun watching all of the racing and watching my teammates having a ton of fun out there.
Here is a painful picture from Frank Rowe:

It is amazing how my skinsuits have started to shrink.

The Thunder play Impact de Montreal tonight at 7pm at the NSC. If the Thunder win they will clinch the last playoff spot. If they lose they will need to play the waiting game. Their postseason hopes are 100% in their hands. The Thunder haven’t reached the playoffs for the past 4 seasons. If they don’t make it tonight than it will be another horribly long wait that will test the patience of their biggest fans.
Tonight is also Sarah’s birthday party. If you aren’t doing anything head on up to Blaine to tailgate at 5pm and eat some food and then come into the stadium and stand with us as we cheer on the Thunder. Besides it being Sarah’s birthday it is also a charity fundraiser for Breast Cancer research and the players will be wearing pink jerseys. Naturally, the maglia rosa will be making an appearance in the stands.
Lets Go Thunder.

Shhhhhh.
Don’t tell anyone, but I think a birthday is on the horizon for someone in the household (by household I mean basement apartment).

AIG just got bailed out. AIG spends something like 100m to be on the front of the Manchester United jersey. That means the US people own a portion of Manchester United. It is discussed here. I think it is really funny that they are not doing very well right now.
h/t smithers for the lead.

Skibby was in Newport and Portsmouth, Rhode Island this past week. This means that he was in my birthplace, and the small town 5 miles north on the island where I grew up and my family continues to call home. The early reports from Skibby are, “It was awesome.”
I am not shocked.

Cyclocross season is upon us. Two races this weekend that received two thumbs up in my review of the MCF cyclocross calendar with (dis). If you are in the area of Moorehead and St. Cloud you should race your bicycle. The start of the racing season also means that the battle for the TIME Sport USA Cup p/b Smithersmpls.com is underway. It should be an exciting competition and the trophy is amazing!

According to the Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator my name is:

I don’t think that is all that bad of a name.

How about that economy?
Boy, am I happy that I am not at my old job right now! I can only imagine the number of phone calls individuals could be getting. In fact, a friend of mine was telling me about all of these people that call screaming at them for the fact that the market is down. Ha! It is most definitely the support staffs’ fault.
Blaming individuals for things that are completely out of their control is like putting lipstick on a pig…or something like that.
…
In unrelated news…
Why are the numbers down in Minnesota cycling?
The blame rests squarely on Cleary.

This came in over the ticker…
He met her in the bar of the swank hotel and invited her to his room. Once there, the woman fixed the drinks and told him to get undressed.
And that, the delegate to the Republican National Convention told police, was the last thing he remembered.
When he awoke, the woman was gone, as was more than $120,000 in money, jewelry and other belongings.
Read more here.
This is just funny. Perhaps this is the greatest form of protest…
