Tuffy ended up with a nice pack finish in 23rd place. He had a good time and looked strong and is very content with that result…which is good or we would have to hear him whine about it.
Lalla dropped out after 6laps. He has a stomach parasite and wants to save up for tomorrow.
I had my best road race of the year. I got a 16th place finish which is excellent considering the lack of teammates and the climb.
Julian from Team Honey Stinger got 2nd after his team, Team Get A Handle(featuring Seth Meyer of Winona MN…nice guy) and more importantly Team Schwinn were a little lame in bringing a break back with there gazillion racers in the field. Oh well.
It was a great day and now we are going to see the Courteous Fellow!
…
Hotpinkevil! just informed me that the Republican convention is probably going to screw our wedding plans for Labor Day 2008.
I hate ‘em.
In our defense, one of our guys was DQed for going over the line, another was dropped. So, really, I only had two teammates in the end there, who are also good finishers. And using them both to take full responsibility for a two-man breakaway? That’s a tough call. You know, we did actually catch one of the breakaway guys on the climb. So the winner was the one left from the break. Places 2-6 went to guys from the field. But, whatever. Grafton is my last Cat 3 race anyway, so I’ll be out of your hair soon enough. Good to see you in Wisco. It was fun to race with you. Unfortunately, I’m not going to make it to Wheaton tomorrow (one last paper I have to write—the quarter system is killer!). But maybe I’ll see you in MN for the state road race in August? I’m coming back for that and staying in MANKATO, where I’m from. Dude, Winona is lame! … Not that Mankato isn’t though….
