I just went over to the University campus to take a look at the course and the Parking and Transportation services have done a fantastic job of Posting signs about the upcoming race! Better yet the signs also seem to be in place to be moved out onto the course Sunday early in the morning. We are really looking forward to this.
The tragic events from yesterday should not have a direct impact on the course or the race. However, we are expecting a drastic increase in pedestrian and bicycle traffic on the day of the race from people that are going to be want to view the area. Because of this we are putting an open call out for volunteers for the race. If any of you want to help just email me by pressing the CONTACT ME button up on the right task bar.
Not in any way to draw away from the terrible disaster that happened a few miles from the course on Interstate 35W you all might want to know that the bridge and interstate in that area was scheduled to be closed in it’s entirety for the weekend from Friday at 10pm to Monday at 6am. Therefore, in “theory” this tragedy should not have any real effect on TRAFFIC problems in the area. This is one way to look at it, but I don’t like thinking like that because this event happened HERE in our city and our citizens. For the first time in 4 years Wolf Blitzer is talking about OUR city. It is surreal.

I am getting very nervous for the crit. We have it planned very well and the help we have received from The University Real Estate and Building/Parking Office has been exemplary. The two past promoters; Dave LaPorte and Sarah Stratton have also been amazing.
Since this is our first ever event we have a little bit higher start-up costs than most races in the area. We needed to get a bunch of supplies etc…
So, what can you do? Show up and RACE! Heck, even Homme has the key to winning the Campus Crit.

Excellent job guys! I’m looking forward to coming back to Minnesota for the race! See you Sunday!
