I am totally going to bite the style of ChicagoBikeRacing and begin to dump out a bunch of links on Wednesdays. This will hopefully continue. I think it will happen for the most part as I will be in school on Wednesday’s from 11am-9pm every week for the next few months. Here is just a brief sampling of what will happen:
Chip Scoggin’s the beat writer for College Football and the Gophers has a new blog on the Star Tribune. It is an awesome read and it will keep you up to date on anything Gophers. The best part about it is that it also contains his commentary of what he sees on a daily basis and what his expectations/predictions are of the team. Check it out if you are a Gopher fan! (He predicts that Adam Weber will be the starting QB on day1).
TV Links is a website that compiles a bunch of movies and TV shows for free viewing on a streaming basis. It is 100% free, although you will have to do with Chinese, Portuguese or Italian sub-titles while you watch your favorite shows. Sarah and I think it is rather cool, but the quality is 100% so it makes you want to watch some of them on Netflix, but when you are in a bind looking for something to watch go here. We haven’t been sued yet
The Friday Night Grind is fast approaching at the NSC Velodrome on August 31st. It is a Madison team only event and it has a $500+ prize list. It is a one night event following a 6-day race schedule. The goal is to grow this into a 2 day event next year and an eventual 3 day race here in Minneapolis. We are still looking for riders for this one. It isn’t TROY points eligible, but it should have been added in order to get capable Madison racers to take part. Next year we expect it to be in order for individuals that have the talents to make them race rather than sit out due to lack of eligible points.
This Saturday is the State Road Race Championships promoted by Loon State Cyclists in Avon, Minnesota. It is an awesome course and with its late season date it is a perfect place for the calendar, unlike a State Championship crit held in June. Naturally there is Pre-Registration which ends at 10:59:59pm tonight. Don’t be a chump and not pre-register and then complain about the extra $10 and the lines you have to wait in to register on ‘game day.’ The truth is that Pre-Registering helps out promoters immensly.
(Thanks to Luke over at CBR for allowing me to bite his style)
