So You Want To Do CX Nats? Goldsprints. CX.

Super Rookie @ 8:35 am

So you want to do the Cyclocross Nationals? Well, looks like you might need to actually plan ahead and pre-register. Or, you can email, blog and complain about it to the national organizers…

Some people out in cyber-space like to complain about pre-registration at races. Something about how you don’t know if you are going to be able to make it because of kids, or if your car breaks down on the way to the race. These people also tend to be really into cyclo-cross. Which is aight, because Cyclo-cross is really bad ass and fun.

This is why I find it funny that the only way you can register for the Cyclo-cross national championships is through online pre-registration. Check it here. If you are going to KC get your ass registered. I am probably not going to KC so I could care less, but I am going to Jingle Cross which also has pre-registration. I just hope that my weekend clears up at the last minute so I can walk in and pay the extra money even though I was planning on going any way. :)

*Jared I am just pulling your chain.

A few people and I are trying to pull together some roller racing for the winter. We are thinking of 4 nights of roller racing over a 4 month period November-February. My friend Jeremy just put together a good night for the Bike Film Festival this past Thursday. He planted the seed of excitement and now we will hope to grow it a little bit. Keep your eyes open, but all proceeds will be going to a different Charity every month!

Ride a bike on rollers for a great cause and hang out with friends!

I just want to say that we have perhaps one of the best Cross scenes in the states. Tons of races…blah blah blah.

We could make it better if they restructured the schedule, but who is counting?

  1. I pre-registered for Cross Natz and good thing I did. It filled up in a day and they are no longer accepting registrations. Just proves how sweet cross is.

I helped promote a cross race this weekend and guess what, we offered pre-reg. No, it did not save us time for registration and No there wasn’t a separate line for those who pre-reged, and NO there wasn’t a late fee if you didn’t pre-reg. Why did we offer pre-reg and not tack on a late fee like everyone else? Because we rewarded our customers and if they did pre-reg then they were put into a drawing for a free cross frameset.

Well of course it didn’t save time if you didn’t have a separate line. Those that didn’t pre-reg are still holding up everyone else in line fumbling with their paperwork and payment. Kinda defeats the purpose doesn’t it?

  4. At most we had 3 people waiting in line. Nobody was pissed and I’ve never seen a separate pre-reg line at any Colorado races.

Sounds like an awesome idea. Iowa has done winter roller races for a number of years and they seem to be at least moderately popular. Maybe give the Kurt Kinetic guys a call…

I’d come to a few, for sure.

  7. Pay Big Dave an appearance fee and maybe he’ll race, he can do 220 RPM on rollers….
