$tarting Again. Blog Theme. Do You S-R Take…

Super Rookie @ 11:58 pm

As you may already know Thursday is my last day of work at my current job. While I enjoy the individuals I work with I feel that it is time to move on and accomplish what I set out to do 8 years ago. Graduating from college. I have decided to crack down and get my degree by the end of May. This will hopefully allow me to get into grad school to obtain my licensure to be a social studies teacher. I know it is a hard field to get into, but it has been what I have wanted to do for quite sometime.

.
I would not be able to make this lifestyle change if it wasn’t for my wonderful fiance Sarah. She is making this possible and I have to thank her for it. It might be tight financially around the household for the next year and a half (I still have to get licensed as a teacher as well). Because of this we are going to be eating in more and a lot less burritos at Pancheros during the week! Don’t think that you will be seeing less of me on bike or at Gopher games! We already have our tickets paid for.

.
My plan for work is to pick up a few hours with the same company, but with a different ‘business line’ so I can maintain my benefits while having some flexibility with my work hours. I also hope to pick up a few shifts serving tables, or working as a bar-back. Hell, now that I know how to drive a stick maybe I should be a valet…hmmmm, after judging from my driving a few days ago maybe not.

I can’t wait to start this next chapter of my life. In the end it will be a perfect lead out for the wedding next August. The wedding ‘of the century.’

Have you checked out Gavic’s blog? He doesn’t update it all that often, but then again he hasn’t had use of his right arm. He should be back to racing soon with the big boys, but he did do a WiSport race this past weekend. Naturally, he would have been at Downers Grove, but he hasn’t fully recovered.

He needs to update his site, especially if he is doing WiSport races while being a “pro.”

Local cyclists your input is needed!

If you were going to go to a wedding and that wedding the officiate was Duane Dickey (Mercy-Specialized) would you think it the greatest wedding in the history of the world?

The more I think about this wonderful idea I should probably ask Dewey if he is down with it…and my fiance. I am willing to bet that both of them are not to hot on the idea, but a little prize money (payment) can convince Dewey to do a lot of things.

Speaking of which, do you need Uggs? Dewey has quite a few pairs for you! Hmmm. I could really use a trip to the Wisconsin Dells. If only I knew where to look.

  1. Good luck heading back to school. I’ll definitely contribute to a “Pancheros fund” as long as you keep riding.

  3. You need a degree to teach social studies? I thought you just had to know how to turn on a VCR and coach a sport.

  4. I had a very, very brief unpaid valet’s job one night at Nye’s. The valet asked me if I could drive a stick shift. I said yes and parked a car for him.

  6. super rook

while I applaud your desire to teach, and think you’d be well suited, I want to bend your ear on another possibility (that also requires a stint in school).

  9. You worship the strangest people.

Good thing you don’t want to be a math teacher, cuz it’s going to be longer than 1.5 years. You’re looking at your last year of undergrad, then completing your licensing program, which will last anywhere from 10 months of intense, all-day classes to two years of night classes (kiss track night and dOPUS goodbye), and then completing your practicum before you even think about applying for your license. Plus, you’re going to have to pass that criminal background check, which, well, you know. Budget’s gonna be tight for a while, brotha…
